The closing date for Telkom bursary is one of many much spoken about in South Africa among students who are searching for financial assistance. According to many publications the closing date for this bursary is 31 July of each academic year. For the year 2021 the closing date seem to remain unchanged.

Telkom Bursary Details

This bursary opportunity is open for student applicants who want to further their academic studies in fields that are represent in Telkom operations. As we all know Telkom is in electronic space which means that students studying towards Electrical Engineering but doing light current must apply.

Over and above engineering studies, this Telkom bursary also does take students who may be within commercial and accounting fields of study. These must be in any university or university of technology within the borders of South Africa

Colleges (Technical Colleges N Stream)

Telkom bursaries are extended to applicants who want to pursue or are already pursuing N streams technical education via TVET colleges in South Africa. However these are only limited to Electrical Engineering (Light Current) N Diploma. The diploma is equivalent to N6 levels of technical or TVET college studies.

Telkom Bursary Closing Date (2021)


The closing date for Telkom bursary applications for year 2021 is 31 July. Applications for this bursary opportunity open in March of each year to allow students to complete bursary application forms. 

Telkom Bursary Requirements (Application)

If you wish to apply for the Telkom bursary you will need to adhere to bursary requirements as stipulated otherwise your application will not be considered. Understanding these bursary requirements also helps you when you prepare for the interview. 

The Telkom bursary requirements are sub divided into two categories: first those that have to do with the persons who qualify for the bursary (eligibility) and secondly the academic expectations by Telkom from students who wish to file an application for consideration.

Since Telkom operates largely within South Africa, Telkom bursary requirements are surely in lne with the company's operational requirements.

You must be a South Africa
You must have completed your Grade 12 what we formally know as Matric
Be in a position to prove your financial position (need)
You must be planning to enrol in the fields that fall within Telkom bursary

Academic Requirements

Technical students must get a minimum of D symbol in English, Maths and Science in grade 12
University applicants must have achieved at least C symbol for English, Maths and Science in grade 12
For University of Technology applicants it is recommended that you must at least get 50% or symbol D for Maths, English and Science in order for your application to be considered.

You need to collect bursary application forms from your nearest Telkom Centre for Learning. These forms are often in the PDF format which makes filling them in much easier.

All applications must reach Telkom before or on the date stipulated as Telkom bursary closing date. Late application are generally not considered.
